Watauga River Big Brown

Asheville Anglers guide Travis Honeycutt takes Michael and Dennis who were all the way from Ireland for a float trip down the watauga. The air was unusually cool for an august day and the trout seemed to of thought it was fall as well. The last 2 weeks of august this year all of the big browns that we see everyday decided to let their guard down and eat! After landing countless trout for the day Travis tells Michael that there are some big browns in this tailout as he does everyday with every client in each hole where he knows that a big one resides. If you have fished with Travis you know what were talking about! Michael makes a good cast, the fly drifts about 8 ft, indicator ticks and Michael is hooked up with a watauga river monster. After a 7 minute fight on 6x he finally puts him in the net. The fish measured 24 inches, and was pushing 7lbs. His biggest brown ever. We also put a 19in brown and 17in brown in the boat as well as countless rainbows. Fall is coming and our tennessee tailwaters will just continue to get better and better! So come get in the boat!
